United’s cup travels hampered by fog

Manchester United’s trip to Bristol City in the EFL Cup on Tuesday suffered a hitch when fog forced the team jet to divert to Cardiff.

The Red Devils opted to make the 169-mile journey south on the day of the game and had planned to fly to Bristol Airport.

However, foggy weather saw the flight redirected to the Welsh capital, where Jose Mourinho’s squad travelled to Ashton Gate by coach.

United and the Robins are vying for a place in the semi-finals of the competition, with Manchester City and Arsenal having already progressed from the quart-finals.
