Liverpool v Chelsea

The  Reds have now won three on the trot in the Premier League, sweeping aside Huddersfield, West Ham, and Southampton while showing off  their goalscoring ability. They are now up to fifth in the standings, three points behind their opponents for the weekend and one below fourth-placed Tottenham.

The Blues, meanwhile, are third in the standings and just one point behind second-placed Manchester United. They have now won four in a row, including victory against United and a 4-0 thrashing of West Brom.

Both teams were involved in midweek Champions League matches. Chelsea made light work of Qarabag with a 4-0 win away in Azerbaijan, while Liverpool went to Spain, where they threw away a three-goal lead to draw 3-3 with Sevilla.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson spoke of the frustrations of that draw in Spain, and said he is “going to try and pick everyone up, which won’t be easy”.

“We expect big things as a team and club and with the players we’ve got we have to be winning every week, really,” Henderson told Premier League Productions.

“That is the pressure we put ourselves under so, when we don’t perform to the levels we should, then, of course, there will be criticism and of course that will hurt.

“You have to use that as best you can. I’ve been in that position a few times in my career and I’ve tried to use it to my advantage every time I step onto the pitch. For the weekend, it is best for the team to stay positive and keep the momentum we have sort of built over the last few weeks.”

Chelsea winger Eden Hazard said the players “can be fresh tomorrow even if the game is close” to the match against Qarabag, while revealing that he is back to full fitness.

“I am 100 percent,” the Belgian told his club’s website. “After injury sometimes you are not feeling 100 percent, but I am ready to play every game.

“Of course when you are winning games it does help. Confidence is high. We are playing well at the moment, we want to keep playing like this and keep winning games.”

In team news, Chelsea peripheral Belgian duo of Michy Batshuayi and Charly Musonda are out injured, while Victor Moses is also expected to miss out with a hamstring issue.

For the Reds, Joel Matip is a slight doubt, while Adam Lallana is expected to miss out, with both of them suffering from a thigh strain.
